I hope everyone enjoyed the Troy Invite. Not only was it one of the biggest middle school meets in the country, but some of the best competition from the state was there. For that reason I wasn't as worried about our team places. The 7th grade girls ended up in 16th, the 7th grade boys had the best finish in 9th, the 8th grade girls finished in 22nd, and the 8th grade boys also finished in 22nd. There were 51 teams at the meet so we didn't do too bad. We will talk about how we stacked up against our sectional opponents this week.
Even though we didn't bring home any awards almost everyone improved on their own personal best times, and a lot of runners improved by a lot. It was obvious everyone really stepped up to the competition. Caroline Almas, Jake Hoffert, Anna Greenawalt, and Justin Vacha all set team records at the course, and Jake was one place away from earning an individual award. We have another invite this weekend in Oswego, and although it won't be as big as the Troy Invite, it should be fun and we may be in a better position to win some awards.
