Our team showed some guts at Tuesday's home meet. The conditions at Harris were awful, and I'm glad everyone gutted through and finished the race despite the wall of gnats. Plank won both the girl's and boy's races. They scored 18 points in the girl's race to our 41 points and Simmons' 194. The boy's race was really close with Plank scoring 30, us scoring 36, and Simmons with 65. I'm not even going to mention times since anyone who PRed at that race is somehow superhuman.
Speaking of being superhuman, a cheap pair of spikes can go a long way to helping your race. I noticed a lot of the top Plank runners wearing them so I thought I would mention it. Dick Pond Athletics actually has a sale on spikes right now, and they have some spikes as cheap as $10. You can use the shoes for track as well as cross country, but you use shorter spikes for track. It may be a worthwhile investment, and the Tiger Trail Invite this weekend would be a good race to try them since it's very flat. If you want more information on spikes talk to Coach Miller.
