The Troy Meet
September 17, 2009
Before I talk about the Troy Meet I want to again congratulate our runners for a great home meet. Although I am happy with the results (the girls beat Waldo 18 to 76 and the boys won with a perfect score of 15 to Waldo's 97) I am even more happy with how our team supported each other by cheering during the other race and how they responded to another team trash talking. I love the fact that our team responded on the course as opposed to talking back. Great job Foxes!
The Troy Invite will be held at Hammel Woods Forest Preserve. Parking will be available at the Home Depot at the corner of 59 and Black Road where there will be a shuttle bus to the meet. You can also park at Holy Family Church on 59 south of Black Road and catch the shuttle bus. Make sure you leave plenty of time because there is construction on Route 59.
Finally, remember to drop your athletes off at the middle school at 6:45. Send them with some healthy snacks (although our parents have been great bringing snacks and drinks to the meets), an extra pair of socks and possibly shoes, a water bottle, and some spending money. There will be concessions sold at the meet along with t-shirts. Dick Ponds Athletics will also be at the meet. I talked with some people at our home meet about running spikes, and the people at Dick Ponds would be great if you want to ask some more questions or even look at some spikes. The first race we are in will be the 7th grade girls at 9:30am. Awards will be at 11:30 and as soon as we get back to Yorkville anyone is welcome to join us for lunch at Silver Dollars. The bus will drop athletes off at the middle school so if they are planning to go to Silver Dollars they will need a ride. I hope to see everyone on Saturday.
