Join the 2019 Cross Country Team
April 11, 2019
Although cross country is Yorkville's most successful sport, cross country isn't just a sport for the top athletes in Yorkville. There are no cuts in cross country and every member of our team runs in at least one competition a week until the postseason. Our competitions are called "meets" and we go to some of the biggest meets in the state including the Parkside Invite in Normal on the IESA State cross country course, the Troy Invite in Shorewood, and our home Fox Trot Invite. The Troy Invite is the only invite we participate in that is not open to every runner on our team.
The cross country program is the most successful sport in Yorkville with 19 State trophies including three at the middle school and five straight state championships for the high school girls from 2011 to 2015. The boys won back-to-back state championships at the high school in 2013 and 2014 and won four trophies in a four year span. In 2016, the middle school team took home two State trophies with the girls finishing in second and the boys finishing in third.
This success shouldn't be intimidating to anyone, though. We personalize workouts for our runners and have runners who turn out to be All-State athletes and runners who run 10 minute+ miles. Because of our personalized workouts, though, all of our runners improve during the season and we make a point to celebrate runners of all ability levels throughout the season.
Registration for the 2019 cross country season is now open online. You can go to our registration page to register and you will receive an email confirmation once your information has been verified. The first day of practice is Monday, August 5 and the athletic packet, physical, and $65 activity fee are due at that time. Make your physical appointment as soon as possible since summer appointments can fill up quickly.
We also encourage all of our runners to sign up for summer Endurance Camp. Download the Endurance Camp brochure and turn it in to Coach Muth at the high school.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask on our Facebook page, or email Coach Miller at demiller@y115.org.
