The Week of Troy
September 13, 2015
This upcoming week is the only week of the year in which we have two invitationals. The Rosary/Marmion Invite is for runners who did not run at the New Lenox Invite last week. The Troy Invite is for the top ten runners at each age/gender level. There's a lot going on this week so ask questions if you are unsure about anything.
Tuesday's Meets
We have a home meet on Tuesday against St. Charles Haines. The only runners participating in this meet will be those who ran at the New Lenox Invite. The meet is scheduled to start at 4:30, but it will most likely start closer to 5 since St. Charles gets out of school later than we do. We will need some volunteers at this meet since most of the team will be at the Rosary/Marmion Invite, so if you can help out please see our Meet Volunteers page.
The Rosary/Marmion Invite will be held at Marmion Academy in Aurora. Any runners who did not run at the New Lenox Invite will take a bus after school to Marmion. The girls will run at 5:30pm followed by the boys at 6:15. The top three teams will take home trophies along with the top ten individuals in each race. This is a great way for some of our runners who aren't always in the limelight to get some recognition.
Late Practice Wednesday and Practice at the Park Thursday
We will have another late practice Wednesday because of meetings for the coaches. Runners will go to the cafeteria for a silent study hall after school, and practice will run from 3:30 to 5pm.
Thursday's practice will be at the Hoover Center on Fox Road. Runners will be bussed to Hoover, but will need to be picked up no later than 4:15.
Troy Roster
Unfortunately, we cannot take every runner to the Troy Invite since the roster size is limited. Runners who will not be running at Troy will have practice with Coach Nauman at Harris on Route 71 from 7am to 8:15am.
Runners who will be attending Troy should be at the middle school at 7am for the bus. The meet is held at Hammel Woods in Shorewood and parents should park at the Home Depot at the intersection of Route 59 and Black Road. Individual medals are given out at Troy for the top 25 runners in each race and the top three teams in each race receive trophies. In addition, there is an overall meet award that we will be eligible to win for the first time since our elementary runners will be participating in the one mile races.
Our roster of runners is listed below, and it is strictly based off of P.R.'s. There are some really good runners who are not on this list, and we hope this just encourages you to work even harder. Runners who attend Coach Nauman's practice can come to the meet afterwards if they want to cheer on their teammates. The 7th grade girls will run at 9:30am, the boys at 9:50am, the 8th grade girls will start at 10:30am, and the boys will start at 11:00am. Awards will be held at 11:30am.
