Cross country practice starts Monday, August 4, and we want to make sure you know everything you need to start the season. Practices will be held at the Yorkville High School track from 7:15 to 8:45am during August. You can click on the green calendar icon on the left of our website to see the full practice schedule. If you have any questions that aren't answered here, please contact Coach Miller, Coach Martin, or Coach Nauman. For more details about our cross country program you can check out our team packet.
What Do I Need To Sign Up?
You can view the FAQ section of our website for more details, but you need the following to sign up for cross country:
- Physical
- Sports Information Packet
- $65 Activity Fee
- Registration Form (If you haven't already turned it in)
Important August Events
Monday, August 4 from 7:15 to 9:15am: First Practice
Please note that our first practice is two hours long since we have a lot to do on the first day. We will meet for practice from 7:15 to 8:45 at the Yorkville High School track every day until school starts. You can click the green calendar icon on the left side of the website for a full practice schedule.
Friday, August 8 from 6:30 to 8pm: Spike Night at Naperville Running Company
Our beginning-of-the-year team party is held at Naperville Running Company in downtown Naperville. The store has an underground space called the "Spike Shed" where runners can look at cool running gear, play videogames and foosball, and just hang out with their teammates. If you need new running shoes this would be a good place to get them. A representative from NRC will talk to the team about the use of spikes in cross country, and you can buy a pair if you're so inclined. Naperville Running Company is located at 34 W Jefferson Ave in Naperville.
Saturday, August 9 from 9 to 10:30am: First Practice in the Park at Hoover Center
Every Saturday in August and Thursday in September we will have practice at a different forest preserve in Yorkville. We start out at the Hoover Center on Fox Road, which is where the high school holds their home invitational. You can head to the FAQ section of our website to see the location of all of our park practices including our practice Red/White Run on September 13 at Silver Springs.
Monday, August 18 from 6 to 7:30pm: Parent Meeting at YMS
We we hold a later practice on August 18 so athletes and parents can head straight to the parent meeting. This will also be our first practice at YMS. Practice will be held at the Yorkville High School track from 7:15 to 8:45 every other day in August.
Tuesday, August 26: Picture Day and First Meet at Batavia
Runners should wear their uniforms to YMS and be at the school by 3pm for pictures. All runners will participate in our first meet at Batavia. You can check out our schedule page to determine who will run at each meet.
Thursday, August 28: Home Meet and New Lenox Invite
The New Lenox Invite will be for our top ten boys and top ten girls. Runners will be told the Monday before the meet if they are running at New Lenox or at home. Our weekday home meets are held at Lyon Farm on Route 71 in Yorkville.

You're fast. You caught this post before I edited it. I knew that wording would be confusing. Practices are at the high school every day until school starts. We will only be at YMS on the days we have meets and parent night.

The calendar for August shows practice every day. You mentioned that practice will be every other day at the high school. So, the other days are at the middle school? Thanks in advance for clarifying this.
