Belvidere Central Invite Information
September 6, 2012
This Saturday the team will be participating in the Belvidere Central Invite. A bus will be at the middle school at 7:30am to take athletes to the meet. As always, we'd like to have everyone ride the bus home as well as to the meet, but if you have to take your runner home from the meet make sure you fill out a release form. A new release form needs to be filled out for each away meet.
The meet is being held at Spencer Park in Belvidere, which is located just off of Appleton Road. We'd love to have as many fans there as possible although we know it's a long trip. The 6th/7th grade girl's race will start at 10am, the 6th/7th grade boy's race will start at 10:40am, the 8th grade girl's race will start at 11:20am, and the 8th grade boy's race will start at noon. This is the only meet of the year in which we can win the overall award since the 6th and 7th graders are combined. Most meets split up the 6th and 7th graders so this is our opportunity to come home with some more hardware.
All runners should make sure they bring plenty of water. We would also suggest sending snacks since the awards won't be until 1pm and concessions don't always have the best options in terms of healthy food. There will be shirts for sale at the meet, though, so send money if your athlete would like to buy something.
Our Top 7
Our new top 7 for the week is below. Just to clear up some confusion, the top 7 we announce each week is the overall top 7. These are the runners who would run at Sectionals and State at the end of the season. All of our runners participate in every other meet we run in, with the exception of the Troy Invite, which takes the top 10 runners at each grade/gender level.
Picking the top 7 each week simply involves looking at times from the previous week's meets. Runners who want to be in the overall top 7 need to be the current runners in the top 7. However, only 20% of our team will be in the top 7 at the end of the season, so even if you make it a goal of yours don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen. Focus on setting PRs to consider your season a success.
