We always have a tough time picking our team captains since we always have great candidates. This year was no exception and we had a record number of captain applications to go through. Even though we couldn't choose everyone who applies you can still be a leader on our team without being a captain. A title does not make someone a good leader, it's actions that make a leader. We want everyone on our team to be supportive of each other as well as runners on other teams during meets as well as practice. That being said, here are our captains for the 2012 season:
8th Grade Boys
Jimmy O'Malley "I want people to do their best"
Alexx Nauman "I want to be a good role model"
Eli Smock "I absolutely love to motivate others and help my teammates"
8th Grade Girls
Maddie Dearborn "If help is needed I can be there"
Nicole Doles "I support all members [of the team] and maintain all my responsibilities"
Julia Megazzini "I want to set a good example for other runners and make sure they will want to join again and have fun"
7th Grade Boys
Ben Schafermeyer "I know the importance of encouraging everyone on our cross country team"
7th Grade Girls
Lindsay Harrison "I always cheer on my cross country family no matter what"
Maggie Klemm "I will keep a positive attitude and encourage my teammates and others"

The time trial will be at the middle school on Wednesday. The 5k will probably end around 7, if not earlier.
Coach Miller on August 13, 2012
We only had one 7th grade boy turn in a captain application so we only picked one. We usually pick 6 total 8th graders and 4 total 7th graders.
