Run for the Athletes Sunset 5K
August 13, 2012
If you didn't already get the invitation on our Facebook page we hope you can help us volunteer at the Run for the Athletes Sunset 5K in Aurora on Wednesday, which benefits Special Olympics. Anyone who is participating will be able to leave practice at 4:30 on Wednesday. Our team will be cheering for the runners and it would be great if people could make signs as well. You will need a ride to and from Blackberry Farm in Aurora.
Congrats to Our Runner and Sportsmanship Winner of the Week
Our Runner of the Week was Ryan Pizzo, who ran the 5-mile, twisty, hilly run to the forest preserve on Van Emmon after spending a few weeks on vacation. Coach Miller asked him halfway through if he wanted to turn around but he said he wanted to prove to himself that he could do it. That's great dedication.
Our winner of the Sportsmanship Award was Meredith Hoffman who is always enthusiastic and cheers on her teammates. On our run to Heartland last week she spent the entire run cheering on a single runner and got that runner to run much further than she had before.
Congratulations, Ryan and Meredith!
