Final Season Considerations

This may be a sad time for most of our team now that the IESA State Meet is over, but you can still keep in touch with friends at school and remember the good times we had during the cross country season. Over the next few weeks I will be meeting with runners who wanted to talk about their season and personalize their off-season work. At this point everyone should stop running until November to give your bodies some time to recover from the trials of one of the toughest sports around. If anyone wants to get a running group together for the fall/winter please contact Coach Miller. A few runners have already expressed interest in this so if you want to run with some of your teammates let us know and we can help set things up.
While we had an outside chance at earning a trophy at State the coaches are incredibly proud of how our team performed. The girls cross country team became the first sports team in YMS history to finish in the top 10 at State and, looking at the results on the boys side, the boys probably would have done the same thing if they had qualified for State. All three teams on the boys side that ran at State from our Sectional were in the top 10. No other Sectional can say that. In addition, the boys times at State were quite a bit faster than they have been in the past. Cody's time typically would have qualified him for All-State, but we know he ran his best so we should all be proud of how he performed.
Next year should be a great year for our team. We will have 2 returning State runners for the girls who ran times similar to Erin and Gianna's 7th grade State times (Maddie and Nicole), and a returning State runner who was the 4th-fastest #7 runner at the State meet (Julia Megazzini). We also have a number of 7th grade girls who are hungry to run at the State meet, and a great off-season and summer of Endurance Camp will help get us back in the top 10 next season.
Although we won't have any returning State runners on the boys side, we do have the strongest boys team we have ever had at Yorkville. If our boys team makes the same committment that last year's girls did we will see big things from the team next season.
Congratulations on the great season, Foxes, and we will see you next year whether it is your final season on the middle school team or your first year on the high school team.

I want cross country to start again!!! it was the funnnest thing in the world and i miss everybody!!!<333 i think everybody should go to the varsity football game on friday because i am going to be there!!! hahaha lol:D anyway karah(the most amazing person in the world)is AMAZING AND AMESOME!!!:D anyway i love her so much she is my best friend i really like cucumbers with mustaches(i have no idea how to spell that)...

I'm starting meeting with runners tomorrow. I won't get to everyone by November, but that's okay since a personalized plan doesn't necessarily have to be in place when you start running again.

I am so sad the season is over!!!:( I want to say that I am so proud of everyone in cross country and that we had a great year!!!(: I lovev running and cant wait to join the high school team next year, how fun!!! anyway, i am still trying to grow my afro!!! It's just not working... Do I need to use moose??? Well i am so sad cross country is over and I hope to see everybody at school sometime!!!(: I will miss you guys and I hope everybody will run next year!!! YMS cross sountry has more miles on our shoes than our mom's minivans!!!(:

i am so sad that the xc season is over but EVERYONE did amazing this year! going to state was an anazing experience and i cant wait for next year and both the boys and girls WILL make it to state next year especially with the incoming 7th graders.

haha you guys should!! it would be so fun to be in cross country with the eighth graders next year!! I had so much fun in cross country this year and cant wait until next season!! I loved running and seeing how easy it is to run two miles after the season compared to how I didn't think that I could run two miles straight when I started!

i had a great season this year, and i am proud to say that i was on such a great team. though i wasn't a great runner, i get to say i was part of a team with runners with such great attitudes and times. hopefully next year will be just as great...and gosh i miss the team already

I know... Cross Country was the best ever! I can't wait until next season, it's gonna be awesome just like Coach Miller said. :) We all did great and everyone should be happy with themselves. So sad cross country is over that was the funniest thing in the world! I had the best time at state and im very proud of my results! I think we should have after school student led cross country practices starting in November!
