Tiger Trail Results
September 26, 2009
All I can say is "Wow!" The hits just keep on coming and everyone ran great races at the Tiger Trail Invite. Some of you were disappointed with your places at Troy, but I told you it was the times that matter and Troy had some of the toughest competition in the state. Tiger Trail had some good competition too, but our Foxes did a great job and took home the first hardware in YMS Cross Country history. The 7th grade boys won the event thanks to great races by Jake and Luke Hoffert, James Daugherty, Mason Dearborn, and Kyle Rawle. However, we needed help from our 6th runner, Brody Vester, to break a tie with Indian Trail. Mason Brant was seconds behind Brody so he helped us out as well.
The surprise of the day was the 8th grade girls, who took home the second place trophy. It was tough to judge the girls' races since they ran with the boys, and the 8th grade girls didn't have anyone in the top 10 so I don't think anyone expected them to do so well. It goes to show that a strong team can beat great individual runners. Anna Greenawalt led our team followed by Margie Fincher, Vicki Granat, Sara Erskine, and Jordan Bulliner. Great job girls!
Our team as a whole did really well. Even though we did not win an overall trophy it is because we were the only team at the meet not to have a 6th grade team. I counted up the points for just the 7th and 8th grade races and we would have won the meet if 6th grade wasn't included. Caroline Almas, Sarah Butler, Jake Hoffert, Luke Hoffert, and Justin Vacha all finished in the top 10 to win medals as well. Pictures of the meet are in the Photos section, but enjoy the two photos below and keep them in mind as we get closer to Sectionals.
