Troy Invite Results
September 21, 2015
The Troy Invite was one of the most difficult races we have seen in years, but also one of the most fun. Not only were the conditions tricky, but the competition was even better than what we saw at Parkside. With that in mind, we can't be happier with how our runners competed at Hammel Woods on Saturday.
7th Grade Girls - Results
The seventh grade girls started out our day with the most dominant performance in the meet. Helena Kleronomos led for most of the race to become the first ever individual champion for Yorkville at the Troy Invite. Her time of 13:07 was well off her P.R., but the would be normal for the day as no Yorkville runners ran a personal record in the sloppy conditions. Sara Klemm (5th, 13:29), Nikki Vergara (14th, 13:50), and Hailey Simmons (14th, 13:50) earned individual medals along with Helena for their top 25 finishes. Jinnaea Richardson was only a few places off a medal in 30th with her time of 14:18. Isabella Franz (52nd, 14:53) and Alexis Nelson (53rd, 14:54) finished the top seven for the team, which finished in first place with the lowest score of the day, 52, to Rotolo's second place finish of 98.
7th Grade Boys - Results
The seventh grade boys turned in an equally-impressive performance with their victory. Their 79 points also beat Rotolo, who ran in second with 152 points. Ivan Westcott gained ground on the individual leader, but couldn't catch him. Ivan's solid second place finish in 12:04 set the pace for the team, though. Austin Popplewell (9th, 12:27), Colin Cachlic (17th, 12:48), and Cade Grimaldi (25th, 12:56) also turned in medal-winning performances. Jack Brucher (34th, 13:17) and Danny Harker (35th, 13:20) weren't too far behind while finishing out the top seven for the team.
8th Grade Girls - Results
The eighth grade girls knew going into the race that they had a slim chance of earning a trophy in the competitive Troy Invite, but they had a goal of performing better than they did last year with a seventh place finish. The team really stepped up to finish in sixth place and two individuals earned medals while last year's team had no individual awards winners. Jazmin Russell (13th, 13:32) and Samantha Moreno (21st, 13:37) blazed through the course to finish in the top 25. Hannah Wolf (57th, 14:46), Mady Klebenow (62nd, 14:52), Tori Cavey (137th, 16:16), Alex Meyers (148th, 16:28), and Maggie Krider (167th, 16:49) made up the rest of the team's top seven.
8th Grade Boys - Results
The eighth grade boys had a rough race and finished one place out of a trophy with 248 points. Brett Rhodes was the only medal winner with his 13th place finish in 12:02. Austin Hunter (51st, 12:43), Tyler Jensen (60th, 12:52), Kyle DiVerde (67th, 13:03), Mark Mattson (72nd, 13:06), Peyton Tiseth (77th, 13:09), and Nicholas Gerakaris (116th, 13:44) were the other runners in the team's top seven.
