Our 2015 Captains
August 8, 2015
We announced our 2015 captains at today's practice at the Hoover Center. A few were absent so we will post a picture once we have the whole group together. We had 18 runners apply to be a captain, which is nearly 25% of our team! The leadership we have on this year's team is extraordinary, and you can still be a leader on our team without the title of "captain." Below are quotes from the application completed by each of our captains.
Alexis Nelson: "I have lots of advice for running...I stay at my own pace and push myself and my partner."
Colin Kachlic: "[T]o me being a captain requires the ability to inspire and encourage, and if that is the kind of captain you are looking for, I already have those skills."
Ethan Castilla: "I love cheering my teammates on and feeling like a part of a family."
Hannah Wolf: "I am supportive and encouraging of others around me, and I'd like to lead others and help out the best I can."
Ivan Westcott: "I think I would be a good team captain because at school kids told me I was a good leader."
Jazmin Russell: "I am responsible, respectful, and I encourage people."
Katie Flack: "I am great at cheering others on because of being at my siblings' games."
Nikki Vergara: "I'll support everybody throughout the season no matter what."
Sam Moreno: "To me a team captain has to be trustworthy, responsible, and a great team leader. They also need to be positive and encourage others."
Sara Klemm: "[N]o matter what sport I am in I try to make all those around me comfortable. I know how it is trying new things and not knowing anybody."
Tyler Jensen: "I am very supportive of the team. I always cheer my team on and encourage them."
