Rotolo Results and New Lenox Roster
August 26, 2014
Our first meet at Batavia was a hot one, but it was good to see so many runners fight through the difficult conditions and finish. You can see our team's results on the Results section of our website. You can also see the results combined with Batavia's here. We have listed all of the runners who earned P.R.'s at Batavia below, which was a tough feat given the weather.
In addition, we have listed our boys and girls rosters for the New Lenox Invite on Thursday. Anyone who is not listed below will be running at our home meet at Lyon Farm. The bus will leave for New Lenox at 3pm from YMS. There won't be a bus for our home meet, but runners should meet at Lyon Farm no later than 3:30.

I'm sorry you feel the meet will not be competitive because our top ten runners will not be there, but we still have some good runners outside our top ten and I think it's unfortunate you felt the need to post this publically where runners could see it. We were already signed up for the New Lenox Invite when the conference schedule was set and there wasn't anything we could do about it. Our athletic director suggested having meets with three teams instead of two to alleviate this problem but that idea didn't pan out. We have another conflict with one of our meets against St. Charles so it wasn't anything specific to Geneva. Cross country is not the same as other sports. While there are big meets such as the conference meet in October, typically these weekday dual meets are more focused on individual performances as opposed to team performances. Maybe other schools don't have that same philosophy, but I hope that doesn't affect the athletes enjoyment of the meet. Even if the race isn't "competitive" the runners still have the opportunity to try to run a personal record on what we think is a fun course. I hope that explains our position a little better, but feel free to email me if you have any further questions.

As a parent of a Geneva Middle School South runner, I'm wondering what is the point of having a meet when your top ten runners won't even be there? Why not cancel or reschedule it so that the meet is a real sporting event for these children? What is the point of a 45 minute bus ride to a meet that will not be competitive? Very unprofessional!
