High School Sectional Championships

Today at the IHSA Sectional in West Chicago Yorkville High School made history. In addition to the Sectional Championships the team won this is the first time that 50% of the team consisted of former YMS Cross Country runners. Alumni of YMS Cross Country are indicated in bold below.
For the 4th straight year the girls team won their Sectional. This year Skyler Bollinger won the race as a freshman in 17:43 and was joined by Summer Pierson in 3rd (freshman, 17:50), Casey Kramer in 4th (senior, 18:11), and Erin Reynolds in 8th (freshman, 18:25) to earn All-Sectional honors. The remaining girls in the top 7 were Kelsey Leedy (junior, 17th, 18:56), Sydney Beach (freshman, 23rd, 19:09), and Lindsay Foster (senior, 36th, 19:33).
The history continued on the boys side where the boys won a competitive race to earn the first Sectional title in YHS history. All-Sectional performances were led by Luke Hoffert in 4th place (sophomore, 15:16) and Jake Hoffert in 5th place (sophomore, 15:20). The twins were followed closely by Zak Arcara in 6th (senior, 15:27) and Shawn O'Malley in 8th (senior, 15:31) who also earned All-Sectional honors. Rounding out the team were Nolan Tweedy (junior, 13th, 15:43), Eric Baker (senior, 15th, 15:50), and Nick Harrison (senior, 18th, 15:58).
