Parent Night Recap
August 22, 2012
For most of the information that was covered during Parent Night you can check out our team packet. Here is the full list of topics that were covered:
- Coaches: Coach Miller, Coach Martin, and Coach Nauman
- Signed athletic policy must be turned in to run in Tuesday's meet
- All forms and activity fee must be turned in to run Tuesday
- #1 team rule is be supportive of your teammates and opponents
- Less than 20% of our team will run at Sectional and State with us so everyone is encouraged to focus on improving their own PR (personal record) since so few will be in the top 7 that run at Sectionals and State
- Athletes can only be driving home from an away meet by a parent. Parents need to hand a signed release form to one of the coaches before they can take their athlete. Once the bus returns to YMS a release form is not necessary.
- Some optional extra costs that may come up during the season:
- $20 spirit shirt with athletes names on the back
- Athletes have the option to buy their uniform top for $25
- Double room at state for $95 can be split by up to 4 athletes
- Dinner at Olive Garden the night before State
- Lunch at Jimmy John's after State

Weekly Honors
Our Runner of the Week was Lora Fletcher, who ran all summer at Endurance Camp and is one of the happiest, hardest-working runners on our team. She didn't earn her uniform during our first time trial, but she did during the second and the coaches and team could not be happier for her.
Our winner of the Sportsmanship Award was Eli Smock, who is one of our captains. Eli can never be heard saying something disparaging about another runners and he is one of the nicest members of our team. During the time trial last week he ran back on the course after he was done running to cheer on runners who were still finishing. That is the ultimate example of what we want to see from our team.
We also announced our weekly top 7. This will be the last top 7 before we begin our competitive season next week.
