The difference was that Cody didn't have the same number of steps as Jake. Turnover is more important than stride length and Cody had a quicker turnover.

I just did some math and correct me if I'm wrong but if two people in a 2 mile race and both are running 5 steps a second but one has a stride of 1 meter and the other a stride of .969 meters than the first will run a 10:40 2 mile while the other will run a 11:00, that's 20 seconds in a 3 cm stride difference and after seeing that thinking back to when jake and Cody where racing jake practically had a foot longer stride and Cody still managed to beat him most of the time

ok i know you might not know the answer to this but, for high school our offcial practice starts on the 8th. but varsity (what me and 2 other girls are running in right now) have been running for the last 2 weeks , one with a coach and one without. only varsity. what im wondering is do you know if high school varsity or not has "practice" without a coach or with on monday or tuesday? before the offical start?
