Without a 6th grade team Yorkville is at a disadvantage because it is very hard for us to win overall awards at meets. However, even without a 6th grade team we placed 2nd overall at the Prairie Conference meet, and we weren't that far behind the first place team. The 7th grade boys finished 1st, the girls finished 2nd, the 8th grade boys finished 2nd, and the 8th grade girls finished 1st. It's too bad we didn't have the trophies to carry in the Homecoming Parade, but they should look nice in one of the trophy cases at the middle school. You can see the full results below.

Finally, both of our teams finished 6th at Sectionals, which may have been a disappointing result for many of you, but looking back it wasn't bad given few of our runners ran over the summer. The boy's team was only out of 3rd place by about 20 points, and the girl's team beat Plank at Conference so we had the potential to beat them again. Justin Vacha and Jake Hoffert were only 5 seconds behind the last runner who went to State individually and Caroline Almas and Sarah Butler were only 4 seconds behind the last State runner. Again, that may be disappointing, but Jake, Caroline, and Sarah will have another shot next year and Justin is going to have a great cross country career at the high school. Congratulations to all our Sectional runners, and you can see the full results below.
