2018 Season Notes

The 2018 cross country season is just around the corner. Our first practice is at the high school track on Monday, July 30 at 7am. That day's practice will be a little longer than normal at two hours because we need to process paperwork and do some other first-day things. On that day you should turn in the athletic packet, physical, and $65 activity fee. The most important of these items is the physical. We cannot let a runner participate in cross country without a copy of a physical from the past 13 months.
If you want to keep the gains you made during Endurance Camp, or just want to get a jump-start on the cross country season, we have a mini-camp on Monday, July 23, Wednesday, July 25, and Friday, July 27 from 7-8:30am at the high school track. There is no cost for mini-camp, but runners must turned in a signed waiver on the first day.
Another option for runners before cross country starts is the Detweiller at Dark race in Peoria. The race is open to runners of any age, but middle and elementary-school runners should sign up for the Junior High Girls or Boys race and sign up for the "Young Foxes" team. You can use the promo code "YORKVILLEXC18" for a discount. Our Endurance Camp boys have placed at Detweiller at Dark the past two years and the girls placed last year in the first year they had an official team. The Detweiller at Dark race is held under the lights on the prestigious high school state course. You can get more information from the race website.
