Welcome Coach Long!
March 29, 2016
At last night's school board meeting Brian Long was officially hired as the new assistant cross country coach for the middle school. Coach Long brings a lot of experience to the Yorkville Middle School cross country team and his experience will certainly help the team as we work on winning another State trophy this season.
Coach Long ran cross country and track for Kaneland High School from 2000 to 2004. He went on to run cross country in college under legendary Coach Al Carius at North Central College.
Coach Long started in Yorkville at Bristol Bay Elementary as a bilingual teacher. This past school year he transferred to the middle school as a full-time ELL teacher. He coached track last season for the middle school and has coached boys basketball for the past two years, including this year's State championship team. He also coached volleyball this past season, but had to resign for next year because of the conflict with the cross country season.
Coach Long will be a great addition to our team and will be at Endurance Camp this summer along with Coach Martin and Coach Miller. Be sure to welcome him to the team when you see him!

We posted about Coach Nauman on Facebook back when she resigned but I probably should have posted here too. She wanted to be able to watch her kids run on the high school team, which she couldn't do as a middle school coach. It was a hard decision for her to make and I'm sure she appreciates that you're asking about her.

I don't want to be the person who isn't welcoming Coach Long and is instead asking about other coaches. But I'm gonna have to be that person. It confirmed that Coach Martin and Coach Miller were returning but I have to ask, what about Coach Nauman? But I DO think that Coach Long will do a good job, I just can't help but wonder.
