2014 Troy Invite Results
September 20, 2014
The Troy Invite is an exciting meet, and this year Hammel Woods in Shorewood was host to 55 teams from across the state. It was the muddiest conditions we've seen in years and although that led to fewer runners setting personal records, it did lead to some fun races. You can head here to see the full results.
The 7th grade girls were led by Madison Grandys, who finished in 29th place with a time of 13:58. Samantha Moreno and Jazmin Russell weren't far behind in 31st place (14:01) and 35th place (14:07), respectively. Tory Cavey (80th, 15:28) and Alexandria Meyers (93rd, 15:45) finished the scoring for the girls by placing in the top five on the team to help the team to a 7th-place finish. Maddie Russelburg (97th, 15:51) and Alexandra Badus (98th, 15:52) rounded out the top 7 for the girls. There were nearly 300 runners in the 7th grade girls race.

The 7th grade boys were led by Austin Hunter, who finished in 5th place with a time of 11:56. Placewise this was the best finish ever for a Yorkville boy at the Troy Invite. Austin was joined as a top-25 medal winner by Brett Rhodes who finished in 19th place in 12:17. Peyton Tiseth (32nd, 12:43), Mark Mattson (39th, 12:57), and Tyler Jensen (43rd, 13:08) finished out the scoring for the boys who ended up with a second-place trophy behind Geneva South. Rick Undesser (56th, 13:23) and Nate Turner (69th, 13:34) were also in the top 7 for the boys in a race of 334 runners.
The 8th grade girls consisted of a group of runners who won the 7th grade race last season, and they became the only group of Yorkville runners to win the Troy Invite in back-to-back years with their 84-113 victory over Batavia Rotolo. Olivia Borowiak led the way for the team and finished second in 12:07 behind last year's state champ from Lake Forest. Emily Eberhart finished 5th in a time of 12:28 and was followed by Colleen O'Connor (15th, 12:59) and Victoria Crawford (17th, 13:03). All four girls won medals for finishing in the top 25. Dani Evans finished the scoring for the team in 45th place with a time of 13:52, and was followed by Roni Bruck (51st, 13:58) and Hanna Zeinstra (104th, 15:07) in a race with 300 runners.

There was a timing issue in the 8th grade boys race and Yorkville's second runner, Jake Carlson, was not recognized when he crossed the finish line in 25th place. The 8th grade boys finished 4th, but the scoring error will be corrected which will actually give them a 3rd-place finish. Alex Loos led the way for the boys in 18th place with a time of 11:52. Also scoring points for the team after Jake were Cole Bruck (33rd, 12:12), Ben Tholen (45th, 12:24), and Hunter Benesh (55th, 12:35). Bryan Corrigan (67th, 12:50) and Zack Nauman (80th, 12:59) rounded out the top 7 for the boys.
