Yorkville Middle School Cross Country

The Top 7

October 7, 2013

Picking our final top 7 is always difficult. The coaches spent hours after the Fox Trot Invite coming up with their top 7 roster, and then compared their notes before Monday's practice. Runners who didn't make the top 7 should not consider their season a failure. Everyone improved during that season and everyone should be proud of what they've done. That being said, Endurance Camp is the best way to prepare for the cross country season. All but two of our top 7 runners participated in this summer's camp so certainly helps.

Runners who are not a part of our Sectional/State roster should turn in their uniforms no later than Tuesday to Coach Martin. Uniforms should be in a plastic bag with the athlete's name on it.

Our top 7 athletes as well as our alternates should be at practice everyday for the next two weeks, including Columbus Day. If you cannot make a practice please let us know immediately.

User Comment Coach Miller on October 10, 2013

The first race is at 10am on Saturday. Volunteers, other than concessions workers, can show up at 9:45.

User Comment Theresa Vest on October 10, 2013

What time should the volunteers be at the meet Saturday morning?

User Comment Coach Nauman on October 10, 2013

We are glad you are coming Rio. It is fine to pay tomorrow. See you soon!

User Comment Rio on October 10, 2013

My family is coming to the award night but I forgot to give coach my money. Should I give it to him tomorrow? Sorry for the last minute question.

User Comment Savanna on October 10, 2013

I am planning on coming Saturday to cheer you guys on like I said before, but what time should I come? Can't wait to see you guys run, are you excited? Anyway, good luck and see you there!

User Comment Coach Miller on October 9, 2013

5:30 to 7 is correct. Sorry about the mistake on the flier.

User Comment Laura Crawford on October 9, 2013

Two sources have different times for Awards night. The flier we received says 5:00 - 6:15. Coach Miller 's e-mail from Oct. 7 says 5:30 - 7:00. Please clarify. Thank you.

Great job to everyone for this successful year of cross country! I was soooo happy on how well everyone did every meet. I know everyone was out there trying their hardest, so there isn't a thing to be ashamed of. Good luck to those running at sectionals this Saturday!!!

Congrats to All runners for a great season--Good Luck this weekend.

User Comment D. Wiley on October 8, 2013

Thank you. Clearly I misunderstood the date and confused myself for no good reason.

User Comment Coach Miller on October 8, 2013

There is nothing that I know of scheduled for tonight. The Awards Night will be this Friday and everyone is welcome to attend.

User Comment D.Wiley (Dexter's Grandmother) on October 8, 2013

First let me congratulate you on a great season. It has to be a joy to work with such a great group of young people and to know that you are contributing in such an important way to their development of work ethic and character. As a grandparent I want to thank all of the xc coaches for your investment. Secondly, as an old person I am now confused by the two events this week and wondering if you could clarify for me which ones I should plan to attend. I thought that the pasta dinner tonight was the award time and now I see that is not the case so I am wondering if I should still attend. i.e. if it is an end of season get together for the kids then I clearly don't belong there. Help please.

User Comment Coach Miller on October 8, 2013

Yes. Anyone can come to practice over these next two weeks as long as they aren't a distraction for the post-season runners.

User Comment Katie Straznickas on October 7, 2013

If were not running sectionals or state can we still go to practice?
