Captain Applications and the Time Trial
July 30, 2012
This is the first time our first cross country practice hasn't involved running somewhere, but it was good to get all of the paperwork squared away and focus on form work for the first day. Our warmups and form work will not take as long once everyone is used to it and we don't need to explain as much. You can see the inspiration for our lunge matrix warmup at the website of former University of Colorado Coach Jay Johnson.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a captain needs to fill out a captain application by the end of next week. We choose 7th and 8th grade captains so 7th graders should turn in the form if they are interested. We already have a lot of 8th grade applications, but that doesn't mean we won't take more. Get your application turned in by Friday the 10th.

Remember that we will have our first time trial on Wednesday. Those who have just started running do not have to run it as we will have another in three weeks. Running an entire race without stopping is the qualification for earning your uniform and Wednesday is the first opportunity to do that. Get lots of rest Tuesday night so you're ready to go for the time trial.
