Dog Tags At Our Invite?
April 18, 2012
Plans are well under way for our first annual Fox Trot Invite on September 1. We are trying to make the invite as unique and fun as possible, and one thing we've looked at is customized dog tags instead of medals for awards. Medals are something you generally wear at the meet and then put away or display at home, but you could wear a dog tag award anywhere without looking weird. Please provide comments if you'd like to have some input on this.

what about maddie dearborn. and jimmy kammer. they wore medals to school. and if it annoys you that people brag about it then dont listn to them. gosh... if you think its wrong, well you are on THE SAME TEAM AS THEM so dont you think you would feel comfortable telling them that maybe that's not the real reason people hand out medals? to brag about it in school? and that the real reason is so ppl can keep that memory of winning. its almost like a souvenior. so if it annoys you THAT BADLY then talk to them about it...?

it doesnt matter. some people might arent thought of as sporty or athletic. i feel that way alot and i went to state and went far in my sports and most people donnt even think of me as athletic and it bugs me. people are wear them to prove them wrong or because they earned them and they are proud. nobody else has the guts to run 2 miles so ha. look at me i did and got a medal! jealous! hhaahaha i think people run because when they get tired they remember the people who cant run and would give anything for the talent i have do they run faster for them cause i know they would do the same to me. they deserve it and dont back talk your team
Anonymous on April 29, 2012
iwas saying it like people wear them for good cause they are proud of what they do and thats okay. but their are people in our school who wear them and act like that race was nothing and make up or spread the truth about the race and its annoying. or they go hey this medal is holding me down its like my 5th one. and they use it for grabbing attention. im sorry if youve never seen any of this but i have and it annoys me. please dont mix up my words. thanks! and the meet might be held back but it wouldnt be completely canlced right away i think

rain tomorrow... are we still having our track meet if its raining?
Anonymous on April 29, 2012
ive never seen anyone wear a medal to school and you dont need to jump to conclusions
Anonymous on April 29, 2012
ppl who wear medals to school are not desperate for attention, they earned it so they can do whatever they want with it. lots of ppl on our team did that and now youre just talking bad about them behind their backs. wow. niceee.

Dog tags are called dog tags because the marines where nicknamed bulldogs and their origanal purpose was to identify a fallen solder, but beyond their origanal purpose they became a sign of respect, although I really hope we won't have to identify any dead people I think dog tages are a good idea for the respect bit and in my opinion unique and weird are the same thing form different peoples prospectices so I'd love to be the weird school who gives out dog tages instead of ribbons
Anonymous on April 21, 2012
around your neck. look people who wear there medals outside of the meet and to like school and desparate for attention. and if you really dont want a dog tag then you should try hard and get in the top 10. and im sorry but people, at least your getting something. its cool. its not going to be like a cheap piece of plastic, itll b like metal, a real medal in a different shape. would you tather have nothing? gosh be grateful. chances are you wont b in the top 10 so dont worry bout it. ven thgouh i dont know who you are, its a cool idea.
same person on April 21, 2012
oh and if you did wear it where would u like... put it...

maybe you could do like, what happened in Belvidere last last year. they top 10 get medals and the top 11-20 get dog tags. so its like both. at belvidere it was like top 10 got medals and top 11-20 got ribbons but who would want a ribbon more than a dog tag?? :)))
Anonymous on April 19, 2012
i dont know... i mean I (emphasis on I) would want to got a medal more than a dog tag, but i like the idea of making the meet unique
Anonymous on April 19, 2012
I think medals, it is our FIRST INVITE!!!!!
Coach Miller on April 18, 2012
They are different, but they serve the same purpose as a medal and you don't have to wear them if you don't want to. Would you prefer medals to dog tags?
julia megazzini on April 18, 2012
i heard today was your birthday! Happy birthday Coach Miller! :)
confused on April 18, 2012
i dont get it though. we would look, well, different/weird wouldnt we??? or wouldnt it be akward???? idk.....
julia megazzini on April 18, 2012
sounds like a cool idea either a medal or a dog tag would be great but i think the dog tags make the invite more unique!!! im excited that we get to hold our own invite! :)
