Final Home Meet Results

September 20, 2011

We'd like to congratulate our runners for completing our final meet at Hoover for the season. Hoover is a tough course and everyone ran well, including the girls who had to run an extra quarter mile. Even with the tough conditions we had a few PRs that were set.

PRs (Personal Records):

  • Lucas Farren - 15:15
  • Natalie Hrcek - 20:37
  • Ryan Pizzo - 18:56
Boys Results
Girls Results

In addition, we have had a few runners who have eclipsed important time milestones in the last few weeks. Our goal is to have 5 girls under 13:30 for the sectional and under 12:30 for State and 5 boys under 12:00 for the sectional and under 11:30 for State. So far the following runners have accomplished one or both of those goals:

  • Cody Hornyak - 11:43 at Troy Invite
  • Erin Reynolds - 13:10 at Time Trial and 12:26 at Troy Invite
  • Gianna Salzbrunn - 13:22 at Troy Dual Meet and 12:27 at Troy Invite
  • Julia Megazzini - 13:28 at Troy Invite
  • Julia Schultz - 13:13 at Time Trial
  • Maddie Dearborn - 13:21 at Troy Invite
  • Nicole Doles - 13:21 at Troy Invite
  • Rebecca Jasutis - 13:23 at Troy Dual Meet

i was at the band thing today, did i miss anything i need to know?

User Comment Coach Miller on September 21, 2011

We haven't gotten the Troy results yet. I'll contact Troy if we don't get them today. And I will discuss the Group 3 situation at practice today. We have a plan for Group 3, but maybe we haven't articulated that very well. Everyone has been improving and getting PRs so the plan is working, but the coaches want to make sure everyone knows that they aren't being ignored.

Coach----Did you receive the final results for Troy Invite? How everyone finished compared to the other teams?

User Comment Anonymous on September 21, 2011

what does group three need to work on? it would help to know what we need to work on in each of the groups so i know which one to go with. it would also help if you made groups/packs for each person to go with because i have never been in a designated group before. I would like to have someone meant for me to stay up with.

technically if you think about it group 3 is treated as group 2 so the coaches really dont talk to each group privately. group 3 is really no difference to group 2.

User Comment person on September 21, 2011

so then what exactly does group 3 need to work on? if just one day we work with group 3 more, then ,maybe we will feel better. because even though your not meaning to do this, it feels as if we are left out.

User Comment Coach Miller on September 21, 2011

8th grade girl is right. The workout we did yesterday was a hard workout and it wouldn't do any good if it wasn't run at a certain speed. We did invite all runners to join one of the groups, though. It's really tough for 2 coaches to give attention to over 50 runners, but we do our best. The top group is not getting any more information than the rest of the team so don't feel like you are missing out on anything. We are always thinking about all of our runners, which is why we have a Group 3. That group just needs to focus on different things to improve, such as endurance, so the workouts are different than they are for the top group. I hope that explains things a bit and I hope you understand that we do care about every member of this team.

all people are doing great. mr miller talks to the top 10 more because those are the people who are up for a new challenge when they are succeeding faster. other people just need more time to progress. everyone is doing great! dont worry its nothing different than anyone else is learning. just some people progress fasdter than others. keep up the good work!!!!

User Comment person on September 20, 2011

i feel as if you dont work with the people who are not in the top 10 enough. you just give the good people a watch, tell them what they need to do,actually explain a lot, but for other people, just go run. i feel as if i am so left out at practice because i am told to run. the only practice i felt that was good was the sprinting. i want to be able to do better too, by getting more help from the coaches. i know you guys know what you are doing, but have one coach(or 2) work with the good people and have the other do a little more practice with the group 3. i hope you can take this into consideration, because i know group 3 wants to get better too.

User Comment a complainer on September 20, 2011

i think that the coaches need to talk to the people who aren't in the top 10 a little more at practice because you only talk to them about strategies and everything but don't think much about the rest of the team because they won't be running at sectionals this year and they won't qualify for state... they still need to know all of the things you say to the top 10 runners or even the people right outside of that group. also can you put our school mile times on the website and everything. thanks!!!
