Yorkville Middle School Cross Country

Homecoming Week

September 29, 2010

It's Homecoming Week at the high school and that means a few special things for our cross country team. Firstly, we will be creating a float for the parade on Saturday. If anyone is interested in helping with float design let us know and we will get back to you with more information. Everyone, however, is invited to join our team in the parade. If you have won awards at any cross country meets or other races wear them to the parade. Everyone should also wear something Yorkville related whether it is a cross country uniform, last year's hoodies, or even just a PE shirt. Line up for the parade begins at 9am and everyone should bring two bags of candy to throw.

We will also have our annual Red/White Run at Silver Springs on Saturday. It will be at 11:30, which should give runners time to go home and change after the parade if they want. Trophies will be given to the top 7th grade boy, 7th grade girl, 8th grade boy, and 8th grade girl and ribbons will be given to everyone else who finishes. Mr. Firrantello also suggested that we allow parents to participate. We think he just wants to see if he can beat Jake, but it was a great idea so any parents or siblings who want to run can join in. We will also be announcing our final top 7 who will be competing in Sectionals and State. The season won't be over for our other runners, however, as we still have a week of practice, two meets, and our Awards Night. More information about Awards Night will be sent out next week. We hope to see everyone at the parade on Saturday and at our last home meet this Thursday at Hoover.
