Belvidere Central Invite

This Saturday the team will be participating in our first big meet of the year: the Belvidere Central Invite. A bus will be at the middle school at 7am to take athletes to the meet. As always, we'd like to have everyone ride the bus home as well as to the meet, but if you have to take your runner home from the meet make sure you sign them out with one of the coaches.
The meet is being held at Spencer Park in Belvidere, which is located just off of Appleton Road. We'd love to have as many fans there as possible since the competition will be tough. The 6th/7th grade girl's race will start at 10am, the 6th/7th grade boy's race will start at 10:40am, the 8th grade girl's race will start at 11:20am, and the 8th grade boy's race will start at noon. This is the first meet we go to that will hand out awards, and we can actually win some overall awards since the 6th and 7th graders are combined. Most meets split up the 6th and 7th graders so this is our opportunity to come home with some hardware. Additionally, there will be five teams from our Sectional at the meet, including Belvidere Central, Belvidere South, DeKalb Clinton Rosette, DeKalb Huntley, and Sycamore. Belvidere Central, DeKalb Clinton Rosette, and Sycamore all made State last year so it will be even more interesting to see how we match up.
All runners should make sure they bring water and dry clothes since it could rain on Saturday. We will bring the team tent, but it won't provide shelter for all of our runners and is mainly meant to keep clothes dry. We would also suggest sending snacks since the awards won't be until 1pm and we don't know if they will be selling any food. There will be shirts for sale at the meet, though, so send money if your athlete would like to buy something.
