Our Final Time Trial
August 18, 2010
Our last time trial went so well that we thought we had measured it incorrectly. After going back once practice was over and checking the distance we got it right, which means some of our runners drastically improved over the last time trial and records were smashed.
Some of the records were broken by so much that the runners thought we had the distance wrong, but everyone did run two miles. Olivia Reese set a new record for the 8th grade girls with her time of 14:19. The previous record had been 14:40 and was set last year. Cody Hornyak, Ryan Cyr, and Thor Hester all broke Thor's 7th grade boys record from a few weeks ago with times of 14:09, 13:54, and 13:45, respectively. Thor's old record was 14:14, but he gets to hang onto it for at least another year. Finally, the Hoffert twins kept the record-breaking trend going with their own times of 12:32 for Luke and 12:27 for Jake. Jake's 8th grade boys record from the first time trial was 13:03.
We don't want to just recognize the record-breakers, though. A number of our athletes completed their first race without walking, which means they earned their uniform. They are recognized below and should be congratulated for their accomplishment.
